Ever since he was found dead in his Minnesota home, speculation has swirled as to the case of his death.
On Thursday it was reported that tests had confirmed he he died as the result of an opioid overdose.
The Associated Press said test results it had seen, showed the 57-year-old, found dead on April 21, had the drugs in his system.
In the the weeks following his death, it was widely reported the musician and composer had been abusing painkillers. It was also reported Prince was scheduled to meet with an addiction specialist doctor on April 22.
