Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew 's relationship has been far from straightforward, but the exes have always managed to stay close to bring up their two daughters.
When the Duke of York found himself at the centre of a disastrous scandal relating to his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Fergie was by his side posting supportive messages on social media and joining him at the Palace for crisis talks.
The pair met at a polo match when they were just children but were reintroduced as adults by Princess Diana, who was already married to Andrew's older brother Prince Charles.
Diana and Fergie were already friends, and the Princess of Wales decided to play matchmaker.

She arranged for them to sit next to each other at a lunch at Ascot, where the two singletons got on like a house on fire.
Speaking about the special day in their engagement interview back in 1986, the year after their first meeting, Andrew said: "We were made to sit next door to each other at lunch at Ascot".
Fergie added: "He made me eat chocolate profiteroles which I did not want to eat at all."
But then Andrew didn't actually eat any himself, which didn't go down well with his future bride.

He explains: "I then didn't have any. So I got hit. And it started from there."
Giggling, Fergie finishes: "I was meant to be on a diet".
The couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on July 21, 1986, sealing the deal with a kiss on the Buckingham Balcony just like Diana and Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Fergie described their whirlwind romance in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2011.

She said: "We had three dinner dates one weekend and we got married.
"I absolutely worshipped him.
"We both were so in love."
Earlier this years there were rumours Andrew and Fergie were back together, and the Duchess said they were "bigger than friends" .
She told Hello! magazine: "We work in unity and [ex-husband Prince] Andrew and I are focused on being good parents together. We are bigger than friends.

"We learn from each other, support each other and understand it's about communication, compromise and compassion."
Days after Andrew's car crash Epstein interview Fergie was pictured arriving at Buckingham Palace where she reportedly had a 'crisis summit' with her ex.
She appeared to be in good spirits as she smiled and chatted to a Metropolitan Police officer, arriving in the back of a dark blue car.
The Duchess of York has previously confirmed her support for her 'true gentleman' ex-husband.
