Prince Andrew is set to break his silence on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal in a “no holds barred” BBC interview.

The Duke of York will speak about accusations against him and his relationship with the disgraced financier for the first time in an "unvetted" interview with Emily Maitlis on Newsnight on Saturday.

Ms Maitlis tweeted a promo picture of the two sitting opposite each other alongside the caption: “No holds barred interview - no questions vetted - with Prince Andrew.”

The interview comes as the 59-year-old royal faced accusations by American Virginia Giuffre, formerly Roberts, that he had sex with her when she was 17-years-old.

Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied the accusations, which were struck out by a US court.

He has until now only addressed the claims through prepared statements released through Buckingham Palace’s press office.

The duke has been pictured with his arm around Ms Giuffre when she was 17 at a party thrown by Epstein.

He has also been pictured with Epstein in Central Park and at the door of his Manhattan mansion.

Prince Andrew has said he did not "see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction".

Questions about his relationship with Epstein resurfaced after the financier was accused of child sex trafficking offences in the US.

Epstein killed himself in a New York jail cell in August. He was 66.

The Newsnight interview will air at 9pm on Saturday.
