Prince Andrew's The Crown role advertised as bosses deny struggling to fill it

Netflix 's bosses have been on the hunt for someone to play Prince Andrew in The Crown 's fifth series.

The role in the hotly-anticipated Royal series was advertised online but bosses have denied they have been "struggling" to fill the position on the TV show.

Prince Andrew has been in a storm of headlines over his close relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The Duke of York stepped back from his Royal duties amid the scandal.

TV bosses have been hunting for an actor between the age of 30 and 40 to play the role of Prince Andrew.

Spotlight's website has been flooded with CVs of actors looking for job roles so it's the ideal place for TV bosses to start looking.

Already the show has landed Elizabeth Debicki to play Princess Diana and Imelda Staunton to star as Queen Elizabeth.

The Crown's team said it was "normal practice for productions" to advertise in Spotlight.

They denied they were struggling to fill the position on the TV show.

A spokesperson said: “There is absolutely no struggle to cast any role for season five of The Crown and it is normal practice for productions to advertise in Spotlight.”

Actor Tom Byrne played Prince Andre in the fourth series.

He played the role with a star-studded cast including Emma Corrin who was playing Princess Diana and Olivia Colman as the Queen.

The Crown has controversially adopted the process of changing the actors every few series to reflect time passing, rather than ageing the actors in the role.

Recently, Prince Harry candidly spoke about The Crown and how it's "loosely based on the truth".

He told James Corden on The Late Late Show: “It’s fictional. But it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course it’s not strictly accurate.”

He added: “I am way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing stories written about my family or my wife.

"That [The Crown] is obviously fiction, take it how you will. But this is being reported on as fact because you’re supposedly news. I have a real issue with that."
