Prince Andrew's right-hand woman steps down after 'reaching legal settlement'

Prince Andrew's private secretary Amanda Thirsk has reached a legal settlement to step down from the role, it has been reported.

Ms Thirsk is understood to have been one of the Duke's aides who pushed for his disastrous Newsnight interview in November.

She has reached an agreement to end her employment in the Royal Household after 15 years, reports Sky News.

They say her departure includes a payment worth tens of thousands of pounds.

Prince Andrew's interview regarding his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was widely seen as a disaster.

A former banker, Ms Thirsk has worked at the palace for the Duke since 2004, and became his private secretary in 2012.
