Prince Andrew Promises King Charles He Won’t Write a Tell-All Book

After the shockwaves caused by Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare, royal watchers have often wondered whether Prince Andrew might try the same move. But insiders say that while the disgraced Duke of York has promised King Charles he won’t publish a book of his own, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson could soon be putting pen to paper again.

Andrew, who was forced to give up public duties over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the accusations that followed, has been keeping a low profile. Now that he’s surrendered his Duke of York title and is reportedly preparing to move out of his longtime home, Royal Lodge, speculation has been mounting about what he’ll do next.

According to The Sun, “there are fears Andy could ‘go rogue’ if he was evicted from Royal Lodge,” but one insider insisted that won’t include writing a tell-all. “Andrew won’t write a book like Spare. He has promised The King,” the source said.

Instead, attention has turned to Sarah Ferguson, who has already written two memoirs — My Story in 1996 and Finding Sarah in 2011. The Duchess of York is said to have “held exploratory talks” with several publishers eager for her to release another book, which would be her first in nearly 15 years.

The discussions reportedly took place over the summer, before the recent Epstein emails scandal that once again pulled Andrew’s name into headlines. According to The Sun, the new book would focus less on royal gossip and more on the “lessons she’s learned in life,” painting a picture of resilience and reflection rather than controversy.

Still, one royal source said it would be impossible for Fergie to avoid mentioning her ex-husband. “It is not designed to exonerate Andrew, but obviously she would not be able to write him out of it as he is an important part of her life,” the insider explained. “She couldn’t write a memoir without him being in it.”

Sarah Ferguson has always had a complicated relationship with the Royal Family and the press. Her first memoir, My Story, explored her childhood, her marriage to Prince Andrew, and the intense scrutiny she faced from tabloids that mocked her looks and weight. Her second, Finding Sarah, took a more personal approach, opening up about her financial struggles and mental health battles, with guidance from experts such as Dr Phil McGraw and Suze Orman.

In recent years, Fergie has been praised for her candidness and for staying loyal to Andrew despite their divorce in 1996. The pair continue to live together at Royal Lodge, though reports now suggest that may soon change.

While there’s no official deal yet, publishers are reportedly keen to hear what Ferguson has to say, especially as public curiosity about the royals remains high. Whether she chooses to protect or expose her former husband remains to be seen, but one thing is certain — she’ll have plenty of stories to tell.
