Prince Andrew 'posed for Coronation photoshoot' - but we'll never see the pictures

Prince Andrew took part in a photoshoot for Charles’ Coronation with other members of the Royal Family but the images are unlikely to ever see the light of day, it is reported.

The King’s younger brother had a low key presence at the historic event and was booed as he was driven past crowds on his way to Westminster Abbey.

His name nor his title had a mention in the entire lengthy programme for the Coronation.

Buckingham Palace had earlier said Andrew and his nephew the Duke of Sussex would not have any formal role at the event as they are no longer working royals.

But Andrew is believed to have posed for photos with other royals for the Coronation, although his image was notably missing from those that have been released recently by Buckingham Palace.

It is reported that the Duke of York was with photographer Hugo Burnand and had some snaps taken of himself, having requested pictures being taken of him in his regalia, despite not being a working royal.

An insider told the Telegraph: "Andrew wanted to be included in the photoshoot and requested that there would be time in the schedule for him to be photographed. He wanted to make sure there was an official record of his participation in his brother’s Coronation.

"But it is unlikely the images will be released by the palace."

Andrew stepped away from public life after a controversial Newsnight interview in November 2019 and the furore over his friendship with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre also sued Andrew for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was 17 after she was trafficked by Epstein.

Andrew denied the claims and paid millions in an out-of-court settlement in the US civil case.

Ahead of his legal settlement, his late mother the Queen stripped him of all of his honorary military roles, including Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, and he gave up his HRH style.

The Palace released several new images of the King with his family with one showing him and Camilla posing together with all 10 of the "working" members of the Royal family.

Both Prince Harry and Prince Andrew, once prominent public figures in the family, were absent from the picture.

For the Coronation at Westminster Abbey, the Duke of York turned up wearing a ceremonial robe while Harry was wearing a suit.

Other newly released images include ones of the King by himself, as well as with his page boys and with the line of succession - Prince William and Prince George.
