Prince Andrew makes awkward Twitter blunder paying birthday tribute to Beatrice

If there's one person a girl can count on to get a sweet birthday shout-out from, it's her father.

But even the best of dads get it wrong sometimes - just ask the Duke of York.

Allow us to explain...

Princess Beatrice turns 31 today so, as is becoming customary with the Royal Family, Prince Andrew paid a social media tribute to her from his Twitter account which included four sentimental photos - of the wrong daughter.

Instead of sharing images of Beatrice , four pictures of Eugenie were posted, including one of her on her wedding day last October. Whoops.

Nope, wrong daughter (Twitter)

Luckily, whoever is responsible for the Duke's official Twitter account quickly spotted the gaffe and took the tweet down.

But not before the ever-watchful eyes of the internet spotted it and took a screenshot accordingly.

One such person even re-tweeted the grab with the caption: "Emmm this is a wee bit awkward?!?!"

However, it seems as if a lot of the public sometimes get confused between the two as another kind soul joked: "I never know who is Eugenie and who is Beatrice – thank god I'm not alone and their dad have the same problem."

Still,  it's a perfectly human error and, either way, we're sure the princess is having a great day.

In fact speculation is mounting that this birthday could be very special, with bookies suspending betting on the couple getting engaged.
