Ha-Joon Chang’s succinct and coruscating analysis of Conservative economic policies (Comment, 20 October) and the falsehoods they have promulgated to damn Labour’s economic reputation should be copied and sent to every Labour MP. Someone should be asking why these figures were never effectively used in the last four years by the Labour party leadership whenever and wherever the subject arose. It is still not too late to persuade the electorate.
Dr Simon Harris
Wrexham

• Twice in recent months I have walked out of a London theatre because of the continous and unnecessary foul-mouthed language in two plays (The Commitments and Great Britain). Needless to say, I was not refunded my ticket price. Is it not time all prospective audiences were warned about such language?
Adrian Appley

The quicker they ran, the quicker they would be allowed to return.
Robin Gardner

Jen Fitton

• So copulation began in a “sideways square-dancing” manner. The Hokey-Cokey will never be the same again.
Richard Barnard
Wivenhoe, Essex

• There have been a number of letters from widows relating to their late husbands’ interests, hobbies etc (14 October, for example). At the same time the plight of lonely elderly men has been highlighted (Letters, 18 October). Why don’t the two groups meet up and solve the problem?
Dr Khosro Jahdi
