NEW DELHI: In a display of continued dominance, the Chennai Blitz secured a convincing victory over the Kochi Blue Spikers with a 15-10, 15-12, 16-14 win in the third season of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
The match saw a strong start from Abhinav for Kochi, showcasing impressive spiking skills and a formidable block. Aman Kumar's aggressive play from the service line initially posed a challenge for the Blitz. However, Dhilip Kumar's offensive moves and Leandro Jose's impactful play in the middle helped Chennai regain control of the game.
Despite some untidy defense from Kochi and consecutive overhit shots, they had an opportunity to mount a comeback. However, Player of the Match Akhin's dominating blocks halted Kochi's resurgence. Errors from the service line by the Blues played into Chennai's favor, allowing the hosts to maintain their lead.
Kochi's libero Ratheesh showcased exceptional athleticism, saving his side on numerous occasions. Erin's attacking serves provided a significant challenge for Chennai.
Coach Dakshinamoorthy's strategic move to call for a super point at the right moment proved effective for Chennai, ultimately securing a comprehensive win in straight sets. Leandro and Dhilip stood out for Chennai with their well-timed blocks.
