Prime Video top 10 shows — here’s the 3 I’m binge-watching this weekend

Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau in "Gen V" season 2 on Prime Video.

Like all the major streaming services, Prime Video’s top 10 list is constantly shifting as fresh premieres climb the chart and old favorites sneak back into view. It’s a handy tool for picking your next binge, but not every trending show is truly worth the hours.

That’s why we cut through the noise to spotlight the three titles that should actually earn their place on your Prime Video watchlist.

This week’s highlights include the highly anticipated return of “Gen V,” a gripping psychological thriller starring Olivia Cooke, and the season finale of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”

This is based on the Prime Video top 10 U.S shows as of Friday, September 19, 2025.

Best shows in the Prime Video top 10

‘Gen V’

I’ll definitely be binging the first three episodes of “Gen V” season 2 this weekend as it’s a show I’ve been excited for ever since season 1 dropped. Not just because I thought it nailed the twisted, darkly funny world of “The Boys,” but because I’m a sucker for everything in that universe.

My Tom's Guide colleague Malcolm McMillan also made it clear in his review: “Gen V” season 2 is essential viewing if you want to stay up to speed with what’s coming in “The Boys” season 5.

Season 2 picks up after “The Boys” season 4 with large-scale changes at Godolkin University. Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and Jordan (London Thor / Derek Luh), having endured months of trauma, return to campus, now under new leadership. Supes are now being groomed as soldiers, and tensions between humans and supes are escalating. Meanwhile, a secret program from the 1960s called Project Odessa surfaces.

‘The Girlfriend’

If you’re after a thriller that’ll keep you hooked, Prime Video’s “The Girlfriend” is the one to watch. Based on Michelle Frances’ novel, this six-episode series wastes no time pulling you into its tense, twisty world.

The story centers on Laura (Robin Wright), a successful gallery owner and devoted mother, who’s immediately unsettled by her son’s new girlfriend, Cherry (Olivia Cooke). Something about her doesn’t sit right, and Laura can’t shake the feeling there’s more to Cherry than she’s letting on.

What follows is a sharp game of cat-and-mouse between the two women, with Laura desperate to uncover Cherry’s true intentions before it’s too late. It’s packed with spicy drama, uneasy family dinners, power plays, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

I think half the world screamed when “The Summer I Turned Pretty” movie was announced. This week brought the season 3 finale, and while I won’t spoil anything (it’s already all over the internet), it was a well-earned conclusion that had me giggling and kicking my feet. Now, with a movie set as the final chapter in this universe, it feels only right to stream the whole series again.

Currently sitting at No. 1, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” season 1 introduces Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung), who goes on her annual summer trip to Cousins Beach. This year, however, feels different. Belly finds herself entangled in a complicated love triangle with brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno).

Jenny Han, the author behind the bestselling book trilogy and the mind who brought it to TV, is teaming up with Sarah Kucserka to co-write and direct the upcoming movie. It’s set to close out Belly’s story after three seasons of summer romances, heartbreak, and sun-drenched drama that had fans obsessively picking sides between Conrad and Jeremiah online.
