Prime Video top 10 movies — here’s the 3 I’m adding to my watchlist this week

Michael Fassbender in "Black Bag" (2025).

Looking for something worthwhile to watch on Prime Video to help chase away the early week blues? Then the platform’s top 10 most-watched movies list is a great starting point. This ranked list offers a snapshot look at the movies currently generating the most interest from subscribers.

I track streaming service top 10s every single day and can attest first-hand that a high ranking spot isn’t necessarily a guarantee of quality. Plenty of subpar flicks have found their way into the list before, so to ensure your next movie night isn’t a frustrating one, I’m picking out the highlights of the current Prime Video top 10 movies list down below.

Note, these picks are based on the Prime Video top 10 as of Monday, September 8. And with that bit of housekeeping out of the way, let’s dive into the Prime Video top 10 movies worth adding to your watchlist today.

Best movies in the Prime Video top 10

‘A Working Man’

I’m far from surprised to see “A Working Man” claim the No. 1 spot on Prime Video just a few days after its debut on the Amazon-owned platform. This action-thriller stars Jason Statham and is directed by David Ayer, reuniting the team behind last year’s Prime Video smash hit “The Beekeeper.” Frankly, you could accuse this second collaboration of being extremely derivative, but if you’re in the mood for some pounding action thrills, it’ll get the job done.

In “A Working Man,” Statham plays within his wheelhouse as Levon Cade, a construction worker attempting to leave behind his former life as a Royal Marine. His plans to live an ordinary life and care for his daughter are disrupted when he’s forced to dip back into a life of violence when human traffickers kidnap his boss’s daughter. Levon’s explosive rescue attempt soon sees him stumble upon an even deeper criminal syndicate.

‘Black Bag’

“Black Bag” isn’t just the best movie in the Prime Video top 10 right now, it’s one of the best movies of 2025 to date (and I’ve seen more than 60 movies in theatres so far this year). Director Steven Soderbergh delivers a well-paced and twisting spy thriller where deception comes thick and fast, and figuring out who is telling the truth is no easy task. Its cast list is also stacked with Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Naomie Harris and Pierce Brosnan.

Set in the world of British intelligence, George Woodhouse (Fassbender) is a master agent, renowned for his ability to read people, but when he’s given one week to sniff out a mole who leaked government secrets to enemy forces, his loyalty is tested. The evidence points to his beloved wife, Kathryn (Blanchett), forcing George to pick between his marriage and his country. Slick, stylish and gripping from start to end, “Black Bag” is Soderbergh at his peak.

'Last Breath'

“Last Breath” is a survival thriller based on an incredible true story that will have you sitting on the edge of your sofa, and maybe even holding your breath along with its cast of deep-sea divers. Adapted from the 2019 documentary of the same name, which was co-directed by “Last Breath’s” helmer Alex Parkinson, it’s effectively white-knuckle and, thanks to a terrific performance from Woody Harrelson, also has an emotional layer.

Chris Lemons (Finn Cole), Duncan Allock (Harrelson) and David Yuasa (Simu Liu) work one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: Maintaining undersea gas lines in freezing-cold waters. The job comes with significant risks, and so it proves when Chris is trapped hundreds of feet below the surface with just 10 minutes of oxygen remaining. With no way to communicate with his colleagues, Duncan and David mount a desperate rescue effort.
