3. Young Sherlock
Available: US/UK
This very fun series from Guy Ritchie takes us back into the early days of the world's most famous detective. The improbably-named Hero Fiennes Tiffin stars as the young Holmes, a street-smart young investigator fresh out of prison who is framed for murder. As he tries to uncover who was really responsible for the crime, he befriends someone who will come to one day be his arch-enemy: James Moriarty (Dónal Finn).
This is very much in the spirit of Ritchie's two Sherlock Holmes films: a fun mix of deduction and two-fisted action that's very different to the more traditional and sedate takes on the character. The full series is streaming now and it's well worth checking out.

2. Scarpetta
Available: US/UK
If you prefer your crime dramas to be a little bit more grounded in reality, then this new series, which stars Nicole Kidman, may be the one for you. Scarpetta is inspired by the best-selling novel series by Patricia Cornwell. Kidman plays the titular character, Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a brilliant medical officer in Virginia who is haunted by a case from the 1990s which bears some eerie similarities to a more recent string of murders.
Split across two time periods (the '90s and the present day), Scarpetta is a gripping mystery with a classy cast that also includes Rosy McEwen as the young Scarpetta, Bobby Cannavale, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Kay's sister Dorothy. Good, gripping stuff for crime fans.

1. Invincible
Available: US/UK
And coming in at number one on the chart this week is Invincible. The adult superhero show's fourth season feels like it only started yesterday, but is somehow already past its midway point – and what a run of episodes it's been so far. Mark (Steven Yeun) is still grappling with the consequences of his actions last season, but there's little time for introspection with threats old and new coming thick and fast. Meanwhile Eve (Gillian Jacobs) is dealing with some surprise news.
Invincible continues to be the most hardcore superhero show on TV, with the most recent episode delivering some especially brutal action. It's frequent and bloody violence means that it's not a show for everyone, but its audience continues to grow with every season.
