Less than a week after "Gen V" season 2 premiered on Prime Video, the streaming service is giving would-be streamers the chance to get caught up on the first season of the "The Boys" spinoff — and you can check the show out for free very soon.
If you keep a close eye on the Prime Video YouTube channel, you might have spotted that a new playlist has appeared, confirming all eight episodes will be made available for free. The first three episodes of "Gen V" are set to premiere on YouTube in less than 24 hours, and the remaining five will be released over the next couple of days.
This is a tactic Prime Video has already deployed to help promote some of its other original shows; the streamer previously shared seasons of both "The Summer I Turned Pretty" and "Upload" for free for a limited time only earlier in 2025. And seeing as neither of those shows has remained on YouTube, if you're planning to watch "Gen V" season 1 this way, you'll probably want to bump it to the top of your watchlist soon.
What is 'Gen V' about?
Need a "Gen V" refresher? This "The Boys" spinoff first premiered on Prime Video back in 2023, and centers on the superhero-only college of Godolkin University.
At Godolking, students are trained to become the next generation of superheroes while also grappling with all the chaos and drama that comes with heading off to college. And as the students vie for popularity and good grades, a group of would-be heroes uncover something big (and sinister) is going on at Godolkin...
The "Gen V" season 1 cast included Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marco Pigossi, Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter, plus appearances from "The Boys" stars Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and P.J. Byrne.
Already up to speed on "Gen V" season 1? New episodes of the current series will continue to premiere on Wednesdays on Prime Video, through to the "Gen V" season 2 finale on October 22, 2025.
