Prime Minister Narendra Modi slams Congress on Andhra Pradesh's bifurcation

HYDERABAD: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday again spoke about the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha saying that process of bifurcation was hasty and as a result both states (AP and Telangana )are facing problems even now.

The PM was speaking on resolution thanking the president for his speech in Rajaysabha. "There was no consultation process in bifurcation process, mikes were cut in the Parliament when the bifurcation bill was introduced, doors were closed, and Congress MPs even used pepper sprays," he said.

Making it clear, he said that BJP was not against the bifurcation, but the hasty process was adopted. "The division would have been smooth and peaceful if there was dialogue," he said.

Giving examples of bifurcation of other states which took place when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was prime minister he said: "Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand were formed during his tenure peacefully with dialogue and discussion of all. But that did not happen in the case of AP and Telangana, bifurcation process was a reflection of the arrogance of Congress," Modi said.

This is not the first time that PM Modi spoke about the AP bifurcation, house as recent as in 2018, July also he faulted Congress for not conducting the bifurcation process in a democratic manner during his speech on the no-confidence motion.
