Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to make a Covid announcement from Downing Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Johnson will lead a briefing from Downing Street, joined by medical and scientific experts.
Mr Johnson is expected to focus on the vaccine roll-out and the latest news on the rise of mutant strains of the coronavirus across the UK.
He could also give an update on lockdown lifting plans - with reports he has asked for the reopening of schools in England to be accelerated.
Mr Johnson could also give an update on how England is likely to leave lockdown - with a number of suggestions there may be no tiers but one overall strategy for the country.
And both Mr Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock have said they are optimistic people will be able to take summer holidays this year - with announcements this week on the latest quarantine arrangements.
The announcement will start at 5pm.
