Primary school teacher who sexually abused young girls brought to justice 'yet again'

A former primary school teacher has been brought to justice "yet again" following the sexual abuse of two young girls.

Charles Ellis, 63, of Chester, was previously dismissed from a teaching role in 2018 following an investigation. He also had several other convictions for child sexual abuse.

He has since been jailed for the sexual abuse of two young girls which the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said occurred on separate occasions. The brave young girls were praised for their help in "bringing this man to justice, yet again".

Ellis abused a pupil in 2016 and abused an eight-year-old girl between 2009 and 2011. Both victims said Ellis’ abuse negatively impacted on their lives as they suffer "long term emotional effects".

Ellis eventually pleaded guilty to these further offences and, on September 15, 2022 at Liverpool Crown Court, he was jailed for 34 months.

Senior Crown Prosecutor Sarah Egan, a specialist prosecutor with CPS Mersey-Cheshire’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) unit, said: "Charles Ellis committed a gross breach of trust against both these victims, and had no thought in relation to the impact his actions would have on them.

"They have both suffered long term emotional effects from what he did to them. The Crown Prosecution Service would like to thank the victims in both of these cases for their help in bringing this man to justice, yet again."
