Primary school places in Notts still due to be announced despite coronavirus disruption

Parents across the city and county are still expected to be told next week which school their children will be starting at in September.

The coronavirus outbreak has caused significant disruptions for schools - and for the councils in charge of allocating places.

But despite this, National Offer Day is still expected to go ahead as planned, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire councils have confirmed today (Wednesday, April 8).

It means parents of primary school children will be informed on Thursday, April 16 which school their primary age children will start at in the new academic year.

Applications closed back in January of this year.

Last year in Nottinghamshire, more than 94 percent of parents who applied on time were offered their first preference school, and almost 99 percent of parents who applied on time were offered a place at one of their preferred schools.

Of the parents who were not successful for any of their preferences, 58.3 percent had expressed only one preference for a reception place.

Parents who applied online will be able to view the outcome on the website.
