Primary school asks pupils to isolate following second case in a month

A Nottingham primary school has confirmed a second case of coronavirus this month.

Robert Shaw Primary and Nursery School in Southfield Road, Beechdale, said a member of staff assigned to the Year 3 bubble has tested positive for the virus.

It comes after the school had to isolate the Year 5 class on September 8 after another member of staff tested positive.

In a statement on the website posted yesterday, head teacher Karen Coker said: "As a result, the affected Year 3 class will be required to self-isolate until Wednesday, 14th October 2020 in line with Government guidance. The remainder of the school is open.

"The school has prepared for this and reminds all parents that their child should still come to school unless asked to self-isolate. We continue to work closely with Public Health England."

On Tuesday (September 29), it was confirmed that pupils at Oak Field School, in Wigman Road, Bilborough, are self-isolating as a result of a confirmed case.

And Chaucer Infant and Nursery School, in Cantelupe Road, Ilkeston, sent an entire year group home after one of them tested positive for the virus.

At least 46 schools in Nottinghamshire have taken action after receiving the news of a positive case.
