Primary 7s make a splash to bow out from school

Hardworking primary seven pupils have made sure they don’t miss out on end-of-term celebrations by getting stuck in to some fundraising.

Covid restrictions meant the St Peter’s Primary P7 pupils didn’t get to go on their annual residential week away to Lockerbie.

Instead they decided to hold an activities week and fundraised to pay for it.

They had a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by local businesses, a staff car wash, and a guess the bear’s birthday.

All their efforts raised cash which they will spend on celebrating the end of their time at primary school on a special week of activities next week.

Class teacher Emma Young said: “They started the fundraising just over a month ago when they returned after Easter.

“Everyone in the school has contributed, including the nursery. All the parents have been so generous. The pupils all really enjoyed the fundraising as well.

“The raffle prizes are all really good from local businesses so it raised a lot of money.”

There are 32 P7 pupils at the school split over two classes with Miss Gordon and Miss Young, who supported their fundraising. The pupils plan to spend the money on a silent disco, an outdoor cinema and an inflatable assault course and a bouncy castle to enjoy the end of term.

Miss Young added: “They were over the moon to raise so much. They were so enthusiastic and it was so nice that they did it all themselves.

“They’ve not really had anything special because of covid so they’re really looking forward to their activity week. We just want to make a bit of a fuss for them.”

The school thanks Glenbun Bakery, Abercorn Tyre Co, Inflated Dreams Balloons, The Flowershop in Elderslie, Baillies personalised gifts, Balance Meal Prep, The Girls Boutique and Gemma Lowe Hair for raffle donations.
