Primark will not re-open in Wales on Monday, June 22

Primark will not be reopening in Wales on Monday, June 22 despite stores in England already welcoming customers.

On Friday, June 19 the Welsh Government announced that non-essential stores like Primark could reopen in Wales from Monday, June 22.

A number of chains announced they would be allowing customers through their doors after months of lockdown including Next and Ikea.

But Primark said it does not yet have an official date for reopening its stores in Wales but that they will not be opening on Monday, June 22.

A spokesman said: "We are still working through our plans for re-opening in Wales and can confirm that we have not announced an official re-opening date for Primark in Wales.

"Nothing matters more to us than the health and wellbeing of our employees and customers.

"That is why we will only re-open our stores in Wales once we are convinced that it is safe and right to do so.

"We are closely following all safety advice from government and will treat this as the minimum standard across all our stores."
