Primark statement after report of disturbance in Nottingham city centre store queue

Primark has responded after a report of a disturbance in the queue to get into the Nottingham city centre store.

An eyewitness who saw the incident on Tuesday afternoon (April 20) said they allegedly saw two groups involved.

The retail giant said the incident was handled "quickly and safely by store colleagues" and stressed safety remains its top priority.

Large queues have formed most days to get in to the city centre store on Long Row since its reopening to the public on April 12.

A Primark spokesperson said: "We are aware of a minor incident at our Nottingham store on Tuesday afternoon (April 20) which was handled quickly and safely by store colleagues.

"Safety remains our number one priority, and every effort is being made to help ensure our colleagues and customers can work and shop at Primark with confidence, maintaining the high safety standards we’ve delivered over the past year.

"We can’t do this alone and we are asking our customers to continue their support of our safety measures, in particular if queuing outside and while in-store "

They added: "We are of course listening to any concerns expressed by our colleagues, and our management teams are in regular contact with them to address any issues.

"We continue to have extensive safety measures in place throughout the store to help protect colleagues and customers, including a strict social distancing protocol, limits on the number of customers allowed in store at all times, requiring the use of face coverings in-store, hand sanitisation stations at store entrances, Perspex screens and cubicles at till points and increased in-store cleaning.”
