Primark speaks out over online shopping and click and collect rumours

Yesterday, excitement among Primark shoppers was at an all time high as fans of the budget store were convinced they would soon be able to shop online at home.

The idea of being able to beat the crowds while still picking up the best bargains sounded like the stuff dreams were made of - but it's not all as it first seemed.

The ECHO reached out to Primark in the hope of clearing up the rumours that it was set to launch a click and collect service.

Unfortunately the retailer has confirmed there are "no plans in the near future" to start offering online shopping.

Although, it's not all bad news as a spokesperson for Primark did confirm it is an option they look into from "time to time".

A Primark spokesperson said: "Primark has a strong digital and a rapidly growing social media presence, with currently 14 million followers.

"Our customers enjoy looking online at the latest offers, and coming into stores to buy.

"The combination of instore design, shopping experience and amazing prices is what makes Primark so attractive.

"From time to time we will look at click and collect as one possible option to extend our customer service. However, there are no plans in the near future to trial click and collect.”
