'Primark socks burned my feet'

A woman claims she's been left with painful burns on her feet after wearing a pack of socks she purchased from Primark.

Massera Hassan, of London, said she recently bought a 7-pack of navy socks for £2 at the high-street shop.

But after just days of wearing them, she began to develop painful burns on the bottom of her feet.

"At first, I thought my feet must be a bit dry, but over the course of the week I kept wearing socks from the same pack," she said.

"But, I noticed over a week my feet were, like, burnt, they were turning bright red.

"I noticed they kept sticking to my feet and that's not normal."

"I've bought socks from them before, I usually go for the same make. But I usually go to the white ones and these were navy."

Keen to get answers, Massera said she googled the type of sock to find out whether anyone else has had suffered a similar injury.

"I couldn't find anything else online about it, I have no other explanation for what happened," she said.

"The dye was on my feet, so I came to the conclusion that it was the dye that was transferring.

"The pictures [I took] were actually a few days after I stopped wearing them."

The 27-year-old says the burns are still painful, and she's since scheduled an appointment to see her GP.

"It's still a bit painful; it's really difficult to continue wearing shoes," she said.

Primark told WalesOnline it is investigating Massera's complaint.

A spokesman said: "We take the quality of our products very seriously and were sorry to learn of this customer’s experience.

"We are in touch with her so we can investigate her complaint.”
