Primark shops in Scotland to extend opening hours as bosses refuse to rule out 24 hour shopping

Primark stores in Scotland will extend their opening hours for festive bargain hunters in the run up to Christmas.

The retail firm has said Scottish stores will have their opening hours extended later this month after some stores in England opened 24 hours a day after Boris Johnson lifted lockdown.

Primark told the Daily Record that it will review the opening hours of its stores ahead of the planned lifting of level four restrictions affecting some parts of Scotland on 11 December.

The current rules mean that non-essential shopping is banned in 11 council areas in Scotland, however Nicola Sturgeon has said the government plan to lower the restrictions by 11 December at 6pm.

A spokesperson for Primark said: “We are reviewing our store hours in Scotland will provide further details closer to re-opening later in December.

“However, we can confirm that our Scottish stores will have extended opening hours.”

The 24 hour opening has been popular in England, with hordes of savvy shoppers heading out to the stores.

People were seen queuing up round the block to get inside their local branches in what was dubbed ‘Wild Wednesday’.
