Primark sets its own rules for everyone visiting stores from July 19 'Freedom Day'

From Monday people will no longer be legally required to wear face masks when shopping but high street giant Primark has issued its own important message to customers.

July 19 has been dubbed ‘Freedom Day’ with all legal restrictions finally being lifted, more than a year after the country first went into lockdown in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

This means nightclubs will reopen and the wearing of face masks will no longer be a legal requirement, through many retailers are encouraging customers to still wear masks in stores.

Shops have the right to impose their own rules and many supermarkets including Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are all encouraging customers to continue wearing a face covering if they can. Now Primark has followed suit.

With no website where Primark customers can buy its popular products, customers are being encouraged to still wear a face mask when shopping in stores, to help protect themselves, staff and other customers.

A spokesperson told MEN : "We want our customers and colleagues to continue to feel safe in our stores. Even though it will no longer be a legal requirement, we hope that people will continue to think of others and wear a face covering if they can.

"Across all of our stores in England we will continue to offer hand sanitisation stations, have Perspex screens up at our tills and operate an enhanced cleaning programme, to help keep everyone safe."
