Primark selling £8 oversized scarves ‘identical’ to £220 Acne Studios one

Fashion fans - run, don’t walk to Primark, because they’re selling a scarf that’s practically identical to a designer brand, and it’ll save you £212. While there may be a couple of weeks left of summer, I couldn’t help but snap up the oversized knit early to avoid it selling out.

The Primark accessory is a dead ringer for the Acne Studios valley checked alpaca-wool-blend scarf, which retails in Selfridges for an eye-watering £220.

With the price of energy bills soaring, at least if you opt for the affordable high street option, you’ll still be able to whack the heating on this winter. That said, it’s so warm and snuggly, maybe you won’t need to.

The Acne Studios scarf is a blue, green and orange tonal piece, made with alpaca wool, wool, nylon and mohair, while Primark’s - part of the Primark Cares range - is 100 per cent polyester, meaning it’s also suitable for vegans to wear.

The colours of Primark’s £8 scarf are nearly the exact same - the only difference being a woven patch on the front of the Acne scarves. Over on TikTok, user Franglover1 joked: “Acne Studio scarf girls making sure people know they’re rich… If you can’t see the label, it may as well be Primark.”

Speaking about the designer version, Selfridges said: “Born in a city where temperatures plunge to minus 27 degrees celsius, Stockholm-native Acne Studios knows what it takes to wrap up warm: wool, and lots of it. Doused in a colourful tartan print and trimmed with tassels, the Vally scarf brings a splash of eye-catching colour to classic trench coats when summer feels like a distant memory.”

Primark’s own scarf certainly offers the same effect, just at a fraction of the cost, and what’s more is that because of its multicoloured design, it goes with absolutely everything.

I bought the scarf for myself in preparation for Autumn/Winter season, and I love the oversized look. It’s a real statement accessory at a basics price, and is a lot of fun to wear. It can be worn loose, or is long enough to be looped around the neck for a chunky wrapped-up-warm look.

The multicoloured scarf is available for £8 in Primark stores now.
