Primark has issued an urgent warning to shoppers over scams targeting people on social media.
The fashion, beauty and homeware retailer says innocent shoppers have been targeted by fake accounts trying to con people out of their information while posing as Primark.
In a message on its Facebook account, Primark said: "We have been made aware of some social media posts from fake accounts offering Primark Competitions, Giveaways, Vouchers/Goodie Bags.
"We can confirm we have no connection to these accounts and are working hard to have them removed.
"For peace of mind, our official Primark accounts have a blue verified tick next to them and we would never ask for your personal information in this way."
Many shoppers have been left gutted by the announcement, after hoping they'd won themselves some goodies, reports the Manchester Evening News.
"Aww gutted it's not real thought I'd won a goodie bag full of Primark goodies and a voucher...typical never win nowt and when I do it's fake lol...oh well," said one disappointed shopper.
"Gutted," said another. And a third wrote: "So are you not offering us all to bring a bag and fill it for £25 on reopening day ........dam I knew it sounded to good to be true ... good luck on opening I'm sure we will all be in for our summer things soon."
A fourth added: "So underhanded to try and blag that they are Primark."
Anyone targeted by one of these scam accounts should ignore it and report it to the relevant social media platform immediately.
