By Phoebe Barton

Primark recently announced a new clothing collection for expectant mothers on its Instagram page.

Although many of Primark’s customers were delighted with the announcement, some shoppers were quick to comment on the high street shop’s name for the collection.

Primark posted a photo of a pregnant woman with the caption: “Introducing our latest parenthood collection. A maternity capsule wardrobe will make life easy and our range, all in timeless neutral tones, will be the foundation of your new wardrobe as the weather gets colder.”

Another said: “Gone to far now”

A third added: “Parenthood???? Maternity”

A fourth commented: “What dad needs clothes for when the woman is pregnant. It’s gone too far now.”

Primark did receive praise from some shoppers, with one saying: “GREAT IDEA PRIMARK SOMETHING TO SUIT EVERYONE”

A second said: “Primark always has our backs”.

A third added: “OMG you guys are killing it”.

Another shopper commented: “I neeeed this! Waited so long for primark maternity and it drops when I’m pregnant”.

A Primark spokesperson told the MEN : "We believe that maternity wear shouldn’t be designed to feel temporary.

"The new collection not only caters to expectant parents but has been carefully and considerately designed for wear post-pregnancy, so everyone can look and feel amazing at affordable prices.

"With more than half of all the Parenthood collection being essential items, featuring pieces such as lightweight layers, it’s been designed to be re-worn and re-styled again and again.”
