Primark issues clear message to anyone who wants to enter its stores from next week

May shoppers are already poised to rush out to high street giant Primark when restrictions are lifted on July 19.

As well as being able to shop more freely, people are also looking forward to buying outfits for things they've not been able to do for well over a year, such as clubbing, and even going abroad for a holiday.

Ahead of 'freedom day', Boris Johnson told shoppers they would no longer be legally required to wear masks or social distance in shops.

However, shops have been given the right to uphold their own rules if they want to - and supermarkets like ASDA, Aldi, Tesco and Sainsbury's have already laid down the law in terms of what they expect from shoppers.

Manchester Evening News contacted Primark to ask what the rules will be in stores after July 19.

A Primark spokesperson told us: "We want our customers and colleagues to continue to feel safe in our stores. Even though it will no longer be a legal requirement, we hope that people will continue to think of others and wear a face covering if they can.

"Across all of our stores in England we will continue to offer hand sanitisation stations, have Perspex screens up at our tills and operate an enhanced cleaning programme, to help keep everyone safe."
