Shoppers fume at Primark over 'tacky' design on £3 King Charles Coronation T-shirts

High street giant Primark has found itself in hot water with some shoppers over £3 T-shirts being sold ahead of King Charles' Coronation. King Charles' Coronation is happening two months away on Saturday May 6, and shops and supermarkets have already started selling merchandise ready for the occasion.

Primark is one of those retailers, and is already selling budget £3 t-shirts adorned with the Union Jack. But the t-shirts have come under fire with some shoppers, who are branding them 'tacky'.

The Primark t-shirts have been slated by some shoppers after they were shared on social media. Unsurprisingly, they've caused a right royal row.

Posting a picture of one of the £3 Primark Coronation t-shirts on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, Rob Angove-Walton said: "Union Jack T-shirts from Primark £3 ready for Coronation." But the t-shirts quickly divided shoppers. While some love them, others are calling them 'tacky', and say they would 'rather watch paint dry' than have anything to do with Charles' Coronation.

Sharon Jones slammed: "No chance will only wear the flag of my country Wales!" Nicci Hobson remarked: "Suppose it’s ok if you support the royals."

Harold Tulloch joked: "Looks tacky af I think Charles would make u walk the plank with that on." Melanie Wood said: "I’ll be painting my fence and watching it dry."

Christine Mcclements mocked the t-shirts, writing: "They won’t sell [many] of them." Tracey Alison proudly stated; "#NotMyKing definitely won't be remembering the date."

Nikki London defended the £3 t-shirt, writing: "Why all the hate? Ok it’s not ironed, a quick fix! And as for ‘it looks tacky’ not everyone is that bothered or has the money to buy lavish outfits for a few hours standing outside with neighbours or in a hall. Anyone would think the cost of living crisis had gone away."

Jacqueline Senior said: "On my shopping list. 3 quid for a day in history not bad, just needs an iron." Paula Esbach agreed: "Not bad for the price."

Maria Blakemore, confused by how anybody could possibly dislike the Royal family, said: "I don't know why the negative, can't go wrong for £3 it's only for one day." Nikki London said: "Like with todays economy and cost of living crisis we’ve all got the money to be buying luxury outfits FOR ONE DAY to stand outside for a few hours or sit in a hall."

Debbie Butcher said: "It's ok.if you're child is in primary school as they might dress up .. I'm only looking forward to the bank holiday."

Those who want to support the Coronation can find the £3 Union Jack T-shirts at Primark stores now. For those who aren't bothered, there are plenty of other budget T-shirts available to buy at the high street store.
