Primark has announced new store locations, but so far none of them are in Cribbs

Following a rise in sales over November and December high street retailer Primark has announced it will be expanding with 18 new stores to come this financial year.

But unfortunately for Bristol shoppers who long for the store to open a second Bristol branch at Cribbs Causeway, it looks as though South Gloucestershire is not on the retail giant's radar.

In fact only one of their new stores - of the 10 confirmed so far -  will be in the UK reports The Mirror. It will be at The Trafford Centre in Manchester, while others will be in Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, and even as far as New Jersey. Eight locations are still being negotiated.

Here is the list of the confirmed new Primark stores:

Primark is still negotiation exact locations for 8 of the stores, but confirmed to Mirror Money the following 10 locations.

  • Trafford Centre, Manchester
  • Mons, Belgium
  • American Dream, New Jersey
  • Lens, Noyelles SC, France
  • Strasbourg, France
  • Paris Thais
  • Paris Plaisir
  • Rome (South) - Bellavita
  • Barcelona - Plaça de Catalunya, Spain
  • Warsaw - Galeria Młociny
  • Berlin Gropius, Germany

The list of 18 stores does not include a new store in Tamworth, which was confirmed at the end of 2019, just a few minutes from their Birmingham branch which is currently the world's biggest.

Back in November we asked our readers on Facebook who they would most like to see take over some of the large empty units at Cribbs Causeway, following the closure of Mothercare. Overwhelmingly their first choice was Primark.

Jemma Semadeni wrote: "A Primark at The Mall would be super helpful."

And Yanique Grant said: "Definitely a Primark in Cribbs."

However, with most of the new stores planned for overseas it appears dreams of a second store in the Bristol area will not come true any time soon.
