Primark confirms opening date for new Trafford Centre store

Primark confirmed yesterday that it plans to reopen all of its stores in England on June 15.

All 281 of the high-street brand's English stores should open by June 15, with shops in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland expected to open by the end of June.

And the good news doesn't stop there, as it appears that one of the English stores reopening include the long-awaited Trafford Centre branch.

The BBC reports that Primark has decided to pull forward its opening for the Trafford Centre store to June 15.

The new store, which will be based in Barton Square, was originally meant to open on March 15 - but plans were pushed back.

The new store - which will take up 64,800 square ft of retail space - will be spread across two floors and will be part of the Trafford Centre's  £75 million redevelopment of Barton Square  .

Kari Rodgers, director of sales - UK, North, said: “We are delighted to be opening our new store in the redeveloped Barton Square at intu Trafford Centre.

"We are looking forward to extending our offering of amazing fashion at amazing prices along with exciting in-store experiences to the people of Manchester and the surrounding areas.”

Primark has already outlined the safety procedures that will be in place to protect staff and shoppers when stores reopen.

The fashion and homeware retailer told Manchester Evening News it will follow these guidelines:

A strict social distancing protocol:

• Limits on the number of customers allowed in store at any one time to allow for the appropriate distance in between customers and employees, following local government guidelines
• Clear signage and floor decals, as well as dedicated employees and additional security staff, to guide customers through the store in a way that limits contact with others.
• Every second till will be closed to allow more space between customers and employees.

Personal protection for employees and customers  :

• Hand sanitiser will be made available at the entrance and on the shop floor and back of house for employee and customer use. Face masks and gloves will be made available to employees if they wish to use them.
• Perspex screens have been installed on tills to protect customers and employees.

Increased in-store cleaning  :

• The frequency and rigour of store cleaning will both increase, particularly around high frequency touchpoints such as tills, escalators, lifts, and employee areas in back of house.
