Primark is preparing to reopen UK stores

Ever since closing its doors to shoppers last month, Primark has remained shut, as it was classed a 'non-essential' retailer.

However, under new rules, non-essential shops are gradually reopening, with Primark making plans to eventually open up.

It has been reported that the clothing retailer is now putting in efforts to reopen, with store managers and assistants visiting sites last week to complete administrative work.

However, Primark told Mirror Money it would not reopen until it was sure staff and customers could visit safely.

"Nothing matters more to us than the health and wellbeing of our employees and customers," a spokesman for the chain told Mirror Money.

"That is why we will only reopen our stores in the UK once we are convinced that it is safe and right to do so.

"We are closely following all safety advice from government and will treat this as the minimum standard across all our stores."
