Primal Scream joined Wet Wet Wet, Sam Heughan, Janey Godley and more in expressing their joy at Glasgow's reaction to the attempted Home Office raid.
A crowd of people descended on Kenmure Street in Pollokshields yesterday after a UK Border Agency van arrived at a property shortly before 10am.
But they were soon surrounded by hundreds of people in a bid to stop the van from departing from the scene, including one person who lay in front of the vehicle.
The two men inside were released following hours of protest, which says Glasgow's politicians and lawyers attending.
Following the incredible scenes, Primal Scream took to social media to tell of their happiness at the move.
They wrote: "So PROUD of the people of Glasgow."
They were not alone as Wet Wet Wet's Graeme Clarke added: 'There are moments I really miss Glasgow, right now is one of these moments. #GlasgowSaysLetThemGo #BorisOut "
Sam Heughan who had earlier written that he agreed with Anas Sarwar's disgust following the raid was thrilled at the release of the two men who were detained.
He wrote: "Incredible stuff from the people of Glasgow.
"Proving there is great humanity and empathy, despite being dictated to by those in power in Westminster, who clearly don’t care. #KenmureStreet."
Janey Godley also enthused: "Mother Glasgow tends her wee flock.
"So many bangers tweeting me images of immigrants who broke the law, forgetting my mum was murdered by a white, far right loyalist and I jailed a white home grown gun running terrorist for child abuse - shut up you clackw*****s."
