Darlinghurst Theatre Company presents The Pride, directed by Shane Bosher, as part of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Alexi Kaye Campbell’s Olivier award-winning The Pride places two love stories, one set in the 1950s and one in the present day, side by side, juxtaposing gay identity and sexual liberation in the past and present.

In 1958, Phillip, an estate agent who is married to Sylvia, is attracted to the writer whose books Silvia illustrates. Oliver, the writer, and Phillip fall for each other but are forced to stay silent.

The time shifts and three characters of the same names navigate an equally complex, though different, web. Oliver is a freelance journalist in danger of wrecking his relationship with Philip through his addiction to anonymous sex. He turns to his ally Sylvia, who is always there for support.
