Price tag for Nottingham Forest transfer target revealed - report

Dwight Gayle will reportedly cost any team that wants to sign him £8 million.

According to The Sun, the striker - who has been linked with Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion - will be sold by Newcastle United only at that price.

And those demands from Steve Bruce's side have dissuaded some clubs from getting involved in a deal for Gayle, it is said.

Leeds United have also been linked with a move for the 29-year-old.

Forest are in the market for a striker to ease the pressure on star forward Lewis Grabban, who has led the line for Sabri Lamouchi's promotion-chasers this season.

Gayle has been heavily linked with the Reds, while Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal), Cauley Woodrow (Barnsley) and Billy Sharp (Sheffield United) have also been mentioned.

It's worth noting though, that Gayle went off injured just 28 minutes into Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.

And post-match, Bruce appeared to rule out any departure for Gayle this month.

“How many times? I just said to the press yesterday,” said Bruce when asked about speculation surrounding Gayle.

“I’ve been asked this question time and time again. Why am I going to let him go on loan? And to where?

“It’s not possible, not with the problems we’ve had.

"I’ve said that from day one.

“I’ve waited for him for two and a half months because he’s been injured, then the team has done OK so he’s found it a struggle to get in.

"I’ve started him twice in the last four or five games.

“He was excellent today.

"He’s not going anywhere, it’s quite simple.”
