Price tag for Nottingham Forest transfer target emerges as interest grows

Nottingham Forest have been set a reported £5m price tag if they wish to pursue Blackpool hot-shot Jerry Yates.

And another team is said to have been added to the list of those interested in securing his signature, as the race for the in-demand striker ramps up.

If the Seasiders do look to sell the 24-year-old, Yates is likely to have his pick of clubs after a campaign which saw him play a key role in clinching promotion to the Championship.

The Reds are believed to be among those keen on the front man, along with Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Rangers.

And now, The Sun claim West Bromwich Albion have also “expressed an interest” in Yates “ahead of a summer swoop”.

The report adds Blackpool want £5m for their star man - an increase on his previous £2m valuation - with Rovers “lining up a move” as a potential replacement should Adam Armstrong depart.

LancsLive say Yates is the forward target who “entices Rovers the most”, but they add any move would “hinge entirely on the future of Armstrong”.

The latter is said to be on the radar of a number of Premier League teams, and if he does go - potentially for a sizeable fee - a new striker would quickly move to the top of manager Tony Mowbray’s shopping list.

Forest are yet to make their first signing since the summer transfer window opened, but desperately require attacking reinforcements.

Boss Chris Hughton has been clear about the need to add more goals to his squad ahead of a promotion push in the upcoming campaign.

Yates netted 23 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions last term and has been named PFA Fans’ Player of the Year for League One.
