Price rises making life difficult in Syria's Azaz

Price rises making life difficult in Syria's Azaz

Gaziantep, Turkey - Syrian forces have driven the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) out and made advances south of the city of Al Bab in the last week.

The government is now in control of a major highway that allows goods to be transported as far to the east as Raqqa, an ISIL stronghold.

But with the road blocked for now, trucks carrying supplies have ground to a halt.

For Syrians living in the city of Azaz near the Turkish border, the biggest concern is the increasing price of basic necessities such as bread and diesel.
