Prezzo Edinburgh to close for good as the chain makes nationwide cutbacks

The Edinburgh branch of Prezzo will close for good as the chain announces a raft of cutbacks.

A total of 22 of the Italian restaurants will shut around the UK, which will see over 200 jobs lost.

As lockdown rules continue to prevent restaurants allowing any sit in diners, Prezzo has been offering some delivery and takeaway services.

Now however, the North Bridge restaurant will close permanently after the business fell into administration after failing to reach agreement with landlords on rent payments, less than two months after Cain International had bought the business.

In a bid to secure the future of Prezzo, 22 of its 178 sites will now close in a swathe of financial cutbacks.

Other branches impacted includes Aberdeen Marishal Sq, London Wembley and London Mayfair.

Prezzo is not the first restaurant chain to make cutbacks in Edinburgh, with other sites such as Vapiano, Frankie & Benny's and Chiquito's all taking hard hits from the pandemic.
