Preview: Notre Dame at Pittsburgh

Nov. 07--TV/radio: 11 a.m. Saturday; ABC-7, WLS-AM 890.

Line: Notre Dame by 9.

Records: Notre Dame 7-1; Pittsburgh 6-2.

Last meeting: Pittsburgh won 28-21 on Nov. 9, 2013, in Pittsburgh.

On the offensive: The Irish have 10 touchdowns of 50-plus yards, their most since the 1988 championship season. DeShone Kizer had one last week, a 79-yard run that was the second-longest by a Notre Dame QB. Will Fuller's game-winning TD catch with 2:09 left was his second this season with less than five minutes to play, a school record.

Getting defensive: DL Sheldon Day continues to lead a unit that includes big names such as LB Jaylon Smith (66 tackles) and CB KeiVarae Russell (46 tackles, two INTs). Day's 101/2 tackles for a loss and 10 quarterback hurries lead the team. Russell could have his hands full with Pitt WR Tyler Boyd (63 catches, 578 yards, four TDs).

The number: 26-5. Combined record of Notre Dame's October opponents. Three of those losses were courtesy of the Irish.

The talk: The last six meetings were decided by an average of 4.5 points, and two went to overtime. Expect the rivals to play another close one.

Paul Skrbina's pick: C.J. Prosise will bounce back from his 14-carry, 25-yard showing against Temple. Notre Dame 38, Pittsburgh 27.
