Christkindelmarkt in Leeds is one of the largest and most established German Christmas Markets in the country - and it's due to kick-off the run-up to Christmas in Leeds when it opens on Friday.
The market will this year feature more than 40 wooden chalet stalls from authentic German traders providing a wide range of seasonal gift ideas including; handcrafted toys, jewellery, Christmas cards and festive decorations, speciality foods and traditional German delicacies such as gluhwein, bratwurst sausages, soups, stollen, gingerbread and candied fruits.
Set in Millennium Square, Christkindelmarkt attracts 250,000 visitors to Leeds each year and forms an integral part of the city's annual events programme.
Earlier this year, Conservative councillor John Procter launched a campaign to protect the market after it was revealed that it was on an initial list of potential cuts back in June.
An adjoining festive funfair will once again provide fun for all the family including a traditional Christmas Carousel, large dodgems and a selection of small children's rides and attractions.
The popular Frankfurter-Scheune provides an authentic bier-keller experience with real German bier, specialist food menu and regular evening musical entertainment including an authentic German show band.
It's open 10.30am-9pm Monday-Saturday and 10.30am to 8pm on Sundays. the Frankfurter-Scheune and selected stalls open are open until 11pm Monday-Saturday. It runs until December 19.
