SEC Team Previews, 5 Things To Know

South Carolina | Tennessee | Vanderbilt
West Alabama | Arkansas | Auburn | LSU
Mississippi State | Ole Miss | Texas A&M
2019 Preseason CFN SEC Offensive Player of the Year
QB Tua Tagovailoa, Jr. Alabama
The SEC is loaded with potential all-star quarterbacks. Georgia’s Jake Fromm is emerging as a possible top ten overall pick next year, Missouri landed Clemson’s Kelly Bryant, Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond is coming into his own, South Carolina’s Jake Bentley is in his fourth year as a starter, and on and on. But Tagovailoa is the almost certain No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft and, if he can stay healthy, the front-runner – yes, over Trevor Lawrence – to win the Heisman.
Considering the quarterbacking year turned out to be about Kyler Murray and his Heisman run, and Lawrence winning the national championship, Tagovailoa’s brilliance almost got shoved aside late. However, even with the injury issues in the SEC Championship and in the disaster against Clemson, he still finished with one of the greatest years of all-time by a quarterback, averaging over 11 yards per throw with close to 4,000 yards with 43 touchdowns, five touchdown runs and six picks. Expect a whole lot more of the same.

2018 Preseason CFN SEC Defensive Player of the Year
S Grant Delpit, Jr. LSU
A next-level superstar safety is one of the toughest positions to find in football. The 6-3, 203-pound Delpit, has everything needed to not only be an early first round draft pick, but to be the best defensive back in college football as the star and main man for another fantastic LSU defense.
Last year, he rose up and rocked with 74 tackles, five picks, five sacks, and nine broken up passes. He was all over the field with three double-digit tackle games, and this year he’ll be turned loose to do even more to get behind the line and attack when the ball is in the air.
