San Diego State | San Jose State | UNLV

2019 Preseason CFN MOUNTAIN WEST Offensive Player of the Year

QB Jordan Love, Jr. Utah State
The Mountain West’s most efficient passer is missing some of his key parts this season – including his head coach, with Matt Wells leaving for Texas Tech, and with Gary Andersen coming in – but he’s still 6-4, 225-pound all-around talent who should quickly rise up in NFL circles.

Accurate, mobile, and experienced, he’s coming off a brilliant year after completing 64% of his passes with 32 touchdowns and just six picks, and with seven rushing scores. Others might put up bigger numbers – the Hawaii starting quarterback, no matter who that is, will go off – and San Diego State RB Juwan Washington should be special, but this should be Love’s year.

2018 Preseason CFN MOUNTAIN WEST Defensive Player of the Year

LB Kyahva Tezino, Sr. San Diego State
It’s a loaded year for Mountain West linebackers. Should Boise State hybrid Curtis Weaver be here? Sure. How about Utah State’s David Woodward, Fresno State’s edge man Mykal Walker, San Jose State’ Ethan Aguayo, and/or Nevada’s Gabriel Sewell? Absolutely. But the 6-0, 230-pound Tezino has the upside and talent to be more than just a statistical star; he’s going to be the leader or a phenomenal Aztec defense.

He’s got the range to go along with the thump, leading the team with 127 tackles last season with 8.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. Set him up and turn him loose – he’ll make big things happen for what should be a stronger SDSU season.
