PrettyLittleThing has been accused of ‘using’ Love Island star Indiyah Polack for social engagement after signing with contestant Gemma Owen instead.

Fans were left unhappy with the choice as it was announced on Monday morning that Gemma, 19, is the fashion brand’s newest ambassador.

While the dressage champion described the union as a “dream come true”, many fans didn’t agree with the collaboration, after the clothing company had previously set an online poll on who followers believed was the ‘perfect PLT doll’ between Indiyah, 23, and Gemma.

Indiyah topped the poll after receiving thousands of votes, leading fans to slam PrettyLittleThing for their business decision, as they claimed the label used the former contestant.

One person tweeted: “This is so nasty I’m sorry they fully used indiyah for some engagement.”

A second said: “What’s killing me is that they did a poll and Indiyah won but they still went with Gemma, hopefully Indiyah declined.”

“Idk I just feel like Indiyah should have got the PLT deal considering she won in their poll over who should get a PLT deal,” a third wrote.

Another said: “It doesn’t matter if Gemma is the most popular on TikTok, if that’s what they were going for then why would they ask who they think is best suited for them just to disregard people’s opinions.

“They should’ve hyped Gemma up from the start and not use Indiyah for clout and engagements.”

Indiyah and boyfriend Dami Hope came in at third place on this year’s Love Island, behind Gemma and partner Luca Bish, who were runners-up to winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti.

Speaking on her new deal with PrettyLittleThing, Gemma said: “This really is a dream come true for me.

“I wore PrettyLittleThing throughout my time on the show and now being announced as one of their newest ambassadors alongside some incredible talent including Love Island alumni is really special.

"The team have been amazing and I’m excited to get to work and start designing some collections for you all!”
