PrettyLittleThing co-founder's property group unveils £50m homes plans

A consultation has been launched by the property group run by the co-founder of PrettyLittleThing for a £50m development in Manchester which would feature almost 200 homes.

Kamani Property Group has partnered with Capital&Centric on the Ancoats Works project.

If backed by Manchester City Council in the coming months, the scheme would feature a mix of 193 apartments and town houses as well as a new café bar or store.

The site in Pollard Street had previously been used as a storage depot.

Kamani Property Group is run by chief executive Adam Kamani who helped establish PrettyLittleThing and is the son of Boohoo co-founder Mahmud Kamani.

Adam Kamani said: "This is a really exciting development which will bring back to life an old and unloved site and create a new and vibrant community.

"We have a great opportunity to create a place people really want to live, the plan is to enhance green space with the restoration of the canalside and inclusion of a lush residents’ garden.

"The site’s heritage is really important to us and, working with a great design team, we are bringing forward a scheme that retains a lot of that character."

Kamani Property Group and Capital&Centric have previously worked on a development in Swan Street in the Northern Quarter.

Adam Higgins, co-founder at Capital&Centric, added: "Over the years we’ve been investing in up-and-coming neighbourhoods and delivering creative projects that create real communities with character.

"Ancoats Works has loads of untapped potential and we’re looking forward to creating something special here – a design-led community that both incorporates and pays homage to the red-bricked industrial buildings of the past.

"It’s a top location and loads of thought has gone into creating new spaces – such as the stunning gardens along the canal and new café bar - where residents will be able to hang out and get to know each other."

The consultation is due to be held on Monday, November 29, at Hope Mill Theatre in Pollard Street.
