Takato Castle Site Park in Nagano Prefecture, known as a local spot for cherry blossom viewing, is awash in soft tints of reddish pink as its 1,500 or so cherry trees have come into full bloom.
The trees in the 5.4-hectare park, located in Ina city, are of the Takato Kohiganzakura variety that characteristically produce reddish pink blossoms. They went into full bloom on April 1, 12 days earlier than average.
The park's annual cherry blossom festival was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but this year is taking place with restrictions on eating and drinking inside the park. Before enjoying the splendid view of spring, visitors have their temperature taken, sanitize their hands and write their names and contact information on a form at the entrance.
