Pret is handing out free coffee in these Bristol branches today - but there's a secret password

Sandwich chain Pret is known for its freebies and it is handing out free iced coffee in a number of its Bristol branches.

The eatery will be giving away iced americanos and iced lattes, which are made from organic coffee, and its new cold brew today (July 19). There will also be alternative milk options for those who want to go dairy-free.

The iced coffees will all be served in a recyclable plastic cup with a paper straw.

The offer is available for one hour between 10am and 11am. But there’s a snag - you’ll need to know the secret password…

To get your free coffee you’ll have to say ‘ice to meet you’.

Briony Raven, head of coffee and packaging at Pret, said: “Given we are set to see some sunshine this week, we wanted to ease our customers into the weekend with an iced coffee on us.

“Our organic espresso is just as great served cold, over ice, as it is hot, while our new Cold Brew is delicious, full-bodied and velvety smooth. It combines a milk chocolate sweetness, with a mellow citrus acidity and a clean, refreshing finish, making it perfect for the summer months.”

Many of the cafes, coffee shops and stalls in Bristol's parks are under threat

The free coffee is being given out at the following stores:

Baldwin Street

Cabot Circus

Cribbs Causeway

Victoria Street
