Pret fans furious over missing Christmas menu item

Pret a Manger fans have been left disappointed this Christmas after the brand opted to axe some of its festive menu items.

As the brand unveiled its Christmas meal items this year, some Pret lovers were disappointed to discover that some menu items had been omitted from the 2025 lineup.

From gingerbread lattes to the pigs in blankets hot roll, your Christmas lunches in the city are certainly feeling festive.

But, not if you're vegan.

In previous years, Pret a Manger has catered to those following vegan diets with items such as the Very Merry Sandwich, but this year, things appear to be different.

Although this year’s menu includes dishes such as the Roast Butternut, Chestnut Stuffing & Pistachio Flatbread, it appears that the veggie options also have some dairy elements.

And people on social media have noticed. Taking to TikTok and Twitter, several fans rushed to ask the brand why they had seemingly forgotten about their vegan customers.

EXCUSE ME PRET??? 😤🚨 i swear they were one of the first to give us a half decent xmas sarnie and they’re the first to cut us off??? WHAT? 😭 7 christmas sandwiches/rolls/baguettes/toasties not one of them vegan???! they have a ‘Roast Butternut, Chestnut Stuffing & Pistachio Flatbread’ which i swear just has a bit of egg mayo in it?? the sort of so-close-but-not-vegan recipe i used to see all the time 10 years ago?? but doesn’t make any sense to make now when it alienates vegans from your festive range? was it an oversight? a fuck up? or are they really that blatant about not liking us any more?? bc let’s be honest, the vibe changed hard over the last couple of years. they were one of our biggest supporters from early days! and now they’ve not just shut down veggie prets but also cut our xmas options??? we know where we’re not wanted 😢 whatever @pret 👋🏻 we can take a hint :( #veganuk

“EXCUSE ME PRET???” wrote one person on TikTok. “I swear they were one of the first to give us a half decent xmas sarnie and they’re the first to cut us off??? WHAT?” the TikTok user continued.

She added: “Let’s be honest, the vibe changed hard over the last couple of years. they were one of our biggest supporters from early days! and now they’ve not just shut down veggie prets but also cut our xmas options??? we know where we’re not wanted. whatever @pret we can take a hint.”

Other social media users have similar expressed frustration with the brand’s lack of vegan options.

“Seriously what have they all got against vegans this year? Falafel, onion bhaji and just not bothering? Sainsbury’s gets the win this year,” added another.

Another added: “Seriously, what have they all got against vegans this year? Falafel, onion bhaji, and just not bothering? Sainsbury’s gets the win this year.”

However, not everyone was on board; others suggested that brands had begun to notice that vegan items might not have sufficient demand.

“Business are finally realising that there is not enough demand for vegan options as veganism is not a growing trend,” suggested another social media account.

Addressing the concerns of vegan customers, Pret admitted that they couldn’t come to an agreement this year on a vegan festive recipe, but will take on people’s concerns for next year.

“Thanks so much for your feedback,” a representative for Pret responded on Twitter. “Unfortunately, we worked hard trying to create a new vegan festive favourite but weren’t able to land on a recipe we truly loved this year. We absolutely hear you and we’ll be taking this on board as we begin planning next year’s menu.”
