Sandwich store Pret a Manger has announced that it will soon be reopening its first store in Leeds since the coroanvirus lockdown.
All stores closed when Boris Johnson announced strict new measures in March, but Pret is slowly beginning to reopen outlets across the country.
A recent trial saw 30 Pret shops in various locations reopen and the next raft of stores will now be up and running again from next week.
Several stores in London will be open for both takeaway and delivery, although customers will only be able to select a delivery service from the Lands Lane shop in Leeds city centre.
It will reopen on Wednesday, May 13, and will be the only Pret in Leeds back in service.
In fact, it is one of only two stores in the north of England on the list, with the other in Manchester. The majorty of Pret a Manger outlets to reopen are in the capital.
Customers will be able to place orders through Deliveroo, Just Eat and UberEats, although a limited menu will be on offer.
Pano Christou, chief executive of Pret a Manger, said: "We’ve learned a huge amount in the past few weeks while getting used to the new safety and social distancing measures we’ve put in place to protect our teams and customers.
"This has given us the confidence to reopen a further 70 shops, including in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester. As the government has advised, these shops will be open for takeaway and delivery only."
A number of other big chains are also slowly reopening stores across the country. Costa Coffee have reopened some drive-thru stores, while McDonald's, KFC and Burger King have launched delivery services at a limited number of branches.
